Leben
[Bearbeiten | Quelltext bearbeiten]Nach seinem Studium der Wirtschaftswissenschaften an der berühmten École des hautes études commerciales (Paris) mit Abschluss im Jahr 1971 machte Dru eine Karriere in der internationalen Werbebranche. Im Alter von 25 Jahren wurde er Kreativdirektor bei der Werbeagentur „Dupuy-Compton“ (später: Saatchi & Saatchi). Im Jahr 1977 wechselte er als Generaldirektor zu Young & Rubicam in Paris, deren Präsident er zwei Jahre später (1979) wurde. Im Jahr 1984 gründete er mit Freunden seine eigene Agentur BDDP, die im Jahr 1998 von der Agentur TBWA Worldwide übernommen wurde. Dort wurde Dru Mitglied des Vorstands. Seit März 2001 leitet er TBWA Worldwide als Chief Executive Officer (CEO), seit 2008 als Chairman. Er arbeitet in New York City und lebt in Paris.

Born in 1947, Jean-Marie Dru, a graduate of HEC Business School, began his career in advertising in 1971 with Dupuy Compton (now Saatchi & Saatchi) and quickly rose to the position of Executive Creative Director. In 1977, he joined Young & Rubicam in Paris as Managing Director, before becoming the agencyâs Chief Executive Officer in 1979.
In 1984, he co-founded BDDP, which was acquired by Omnicom and merged with TBWA in 1998. He became President International of TBWAWorldwide in 1998 and was appointed President and CEO Worldwide in January 2001, a position that he held until January 2008, when he moved to his current role of Chairman.
Jean-Marie Dru has published six books on advertising and marketing: âJet Lagâ (PowerHouse Books, 2012), âHow Disruption Brought Orderâ (Palgrave, 2007), âBeyond Disruptionâ (John Wiley & Sons Inc., 2002), âDisruptionâ (John Wiley & Sons Inc., 1996) and âLe Saut Créatifâ (Lattès, 1984).
