Francis John (Frank) Wiercinski (born November 19, 1956)[1] is a retired United States Army officer who was the Commander United States Army Pacific (USARPAC). Wiercinski joined the United States Army in 1979.
On December 20, 1989, then Captain Wiercinski, Company Commander of Bravo Company, 3/75 Ranger Regiment, led his rangers during a night-time combat jump into Rio Hato, Panama during Operation Just Cause, assisting in the regiment's successful seizure of the airfield.
He was previously the Deputy Commander for Support, of the Multinational Division North, Iraq.[2] The troops under his command were responsible for a large part of Iraq, stretching from Baghdad to the Turkish border, and east and west to the borders of Iran and Syria.
During Operation Anaconda (2002), in Afghanistan, Wiercinski (then a colonel) was commander of the 187th Infantry Regiment (a. k. a. "The Rakkasans"), 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).[3]

Maj. Gen. Francis J. Wiercinski has been assigned as the next commander of U.S. Army Pacific, headquartered at Fort Shafter, the Pentagon said yesterday.
Wiercinski, who will receive a third star and become a lieutenant general with U.S. Senate approval of the posting, most recently served as commanding general of U.S. Army Japan and commanding general I Corps (Forward) in Japan.
A change of command is scheduled for March 21. The commander of U.S. Army Pacific controls about 54,000 soldiers in the region, officials said.
Wiercinski is no stranger to Hawaii.
He became deputy commander of U.S. Army Pacific on Jan. 2, 2008. In June of that year he assumed command of U.S. Army Japan.

Wiercinski returns to Hawaii, assumes command of USARPAC
FORT SHAFTER, Hawaii -- Vice Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Peter W. Chiarelli passed command of U.S. Army Pacific from Lt. Gen. Benjamin R. Mixon to Lt. Gen. Francis J. Wiercinski during a change of command ceremony March 21 on historic Palm Circle on Fort Shafter, Honolulu.
Mixon, who will retire at the end of May, served as USARPAC commander since February 2008. He also commanded the 25th Infantry Division, headquartered at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and Task Force Lightening in northern Iraq during the surge.
Wiercinski said that standing before him "on this historic beautiful setting is a physical representation of what we really are. These commanders, command sergeants major, Soldiers and Marines represent the best of our nation. They are a generation of volunteers who stand up on that wall every day and say 'Not on my watch.'"
