Brandy Rayana Norwood, famously known as Brandy, has been a household name for decades. The talented artist was born to her father, Willie Norwood, and mother, Sonja Norwood. Her father was a gospel singer and choir director, while her mother ran H&R Block as the district manager. They lived in McComb, Mississippi, together with her younger brother Ray J. Brandy was raised with Christian values and even started singing in her father’s church choir. She attended Hollywood High Performing Arts Center in 1983 when her parents relocated to Carson, California. In 1990, she got a job as the backing vocalist for the R&B boy band Immature after signing with Teaspoon Productions. In 1993, she signed with Atlantic Recording Corporation through her parents while still in talks with East West Records. Her mother resigned from her job and became her manager, and she started homeschooling.

Brandy Rayana Norwood (born February 11, 1979), professionally known as Brandy, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actress.
Brandy became famous as a teenager in the early 90s with the debut Brandy which received a platinum certification in the US. In 1997 she became the first African American in history to play the role of Cinderella in the movie with the same title.[2] Her second album Never Say Never followed which sold over 16 million copies worldwide. A couple of highly successful singles were released from the record, including "The Boy Is Mine", a duet with Monica, which spent 13 weeks at number one on the US singles chart.[3] In 1999 Brandy starred in the horror movieI Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Brandy earned the title "Princess of R&B" due to her success in the 1990s. She starred in the sitcom Moesha as the title character.[4]
