    Myron Kandel is financial editor and an anchor for CNN Financial News, the division of the CNN News Group that produces business news for CNN/U.S., CNN International, Headline News, CNN Airport Network, CNN Radio, and the Web site, CNNfn.com. He is the commentator for the “Moneyline News Hour”, CNN’s flagship business news program, and anchors Financial News updates on CNN, CNNfn and CNN International.

    Myron Kandel, who was part of CNN’s original launch team in 1980, has been instrumental in the growth and development of CNN Financial News. He started his 48-year career in journalism as a copy boy at The New York Times, working nights while completing his senior year at Brooklyn College and then while earning a master’s degree from the Columbia School of Journalism. Upon graduation, he was promoted to copy editor at the Times and later became a financial reporter.

    After reporting for The New York Times, Myron Kandel became business editor of the Washington Star and then became Bonn-based foreign correspondent for the New York Herald Tribune. He returned

    Myron Kandel pioneered financial news on television, serving as CNN’s founding financial editor and economic commentator for 25 years. In 2000, TJFR, a media industry publication, named him one of the 10 most influential financial journalists of the 20th century. He previously served as the financial editor of the Washington Star, the New York Herald Tribune and the New York Post. Kandel also was a reporter for The New York Times, a foreign correspondent for the Herald Tribune, a syndicated newspaper columnist and the editor of the New York Law Journal.

    Kandel started his journalism career as a copy boy at The New York Times, working nights while completing his senior year at Brooklyn College and earning a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He has taught journalism at Columbia and the City College of New York.
