Our Patron Saint
St. Mother Theodore Guerin
(1798-1856)
Feast Day on October 3
Here is information about our parish patron saint from the Sisters of Providence, spsmw.org:
St. Mother Theodore was a woman of courage, determination and compassion. From a young age she faced many challenges. Her trust in Providence – the protective care of God – helped her accomplish many things.
Born Anne–Therese Guerin in the village of Etables–sur–Mer in Brittany, France, she spent many years taking care of her mother and sister after the tragic deaths of both her brothers and her father. At the age of 25 her mother allowed her to follow her dream and devote her life entirely to God.

Saint Mother Theodore Guerin
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College founder. America’s 8th Saint.
Saint Mother Theodore Guerin’s strength, determination and philosophy can be found in every brick, stone and heart on the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College campus to this day. In this new place, she founded an academy which continues her mission today. To the students on campus, she is simply, “Mama Teddy.”
This is the path traced by Providence. And I follow it.

Even at that young age, Anne-Therese knew her calling. She imparted to the priest, on the day of her First Communion, that she had a desire to enter into a religious community.
While Anne-Therese was eager to begin her life’s mission, it was not to be. Tragedy struck her fa
